In 2019, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta (ISI Yogyakarta) will be honored as the host of the 1st International Conference on Interdisciplinary Arts and Humanities (ICONARTIES) which will invite practitioners of artists, lecturers, researchers, observers and students in the field of arts and humanities to jointly present the results of their thoughts at a conference entitled: "Changing the world through arts and humanities".
The conference will be held in The Phoenix Hotel Yogyakarta, Indonesia on July 3 – 5, 2019.

Shahanum Mohamad Shah

Shahanum Mohd. Shah is Associate Professor of Music Education at the Faculty of Music, Universiti Teknologi MARA. Shahanum’s research interests include psychology of music, music teaching and learning, assessment, and the Malay gamelan.
Shahanum is active in the music education scene in Malaysia. She is the Deputy President of the Malaysian Band Association, Assistant Secretary for the Southeast Asian Directors of Music Congress, member of the Malaysian Association for Music Education, the International Society for Music Education and the International Council for Traditional Music. Matthew Isaac Cohen

Matthew Isaac Cohen is Professor of International Theatre at Royal Holloway, University of London. His research addresses tradition in modernity, the emergence of new artistic forms and practices in situations of cultural complexity, itinerancy in art and life, and the animation of social imaginaries, with a particular focus on the performing arts of Indonesia. His most recent book is Inventing the Performing Arts: Modernity and Tradition in Colonial Indonesia (University of Hawaii Press, 2016). In the academic year 2018-2019, he was a Fellow in Sacred Music, Worship, and the Arts at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, researching the history of wayang with special reference to the Dr. Walter Angst and Sir Henry Angest Collection of Indonesian Puppets at Yale University Art Gallery. He also performs wayang on occasion under the company banner Kanda Buwana, and in 2018 was awarded the royal name Ki Dalang Bawana (Honorable Puppeteer of the World) from the Kraton Kasepuhan royal court of Cirebon, West Java.
Csongor G. Szigeti

Mr. Csongor G. Szigeti is an intermedia artist, full-time lecturer in BA and MA level at the Visual Arts Institute, Media and Design Department, Eszterhazy University, Eger, Hungary. He is not only a contemporary artist and university lecturer, but designer, organiser of workshops, curator of exhibitions, and board member of the MAMU, non profit contemporary art association and gallery. His name is synonymous with kinetic and interactive artworks, site specific, public art installations, objects, photography and videos, that can be intuitively internalised, in which spiritual content is the foreground. His visual language is mainly inspired by the technical media, scientific discoveries, high tech, low tech, objects from the history of technological evolution and the phenomena of nature. All Csongor G. Szigeti’s works push the limits of the genre, in their intersection they explore and dissect the relationships of our world and are generally characterised by deep profoundness.
Arts and humanities in their development support each other and have relevance to other scientific aspects. The more advanced human civilization, the more complex the problems encountered. This requires a complementary study of all scientific aspects. Interdisciplinary arts and humanities in the millennium era developed into something new. Many experts began to be interested in researching new scientific principles, policies, and applications which were a mixture of various disciplines to solve their problems. The development of the arts and humanities directly or indirectly ultimately determines the change in world civilization.
We invite practitioners of artists, lecturers, researchers, observers and students in the field of arts and humanities to jointly present the results of their thoughts at a conference entitled: "Changing the world through arts and humanities".
